Overview
43 states popularly elect their Attorney General. Maine's AG is chosen by the state legislature — a form of election, but not by popular vote. Six jurisdictions don't elect their AG at all: Alaska, Hawaii, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Wyoming (governor-appointed), and Tennessee (appointed by the state supreme court).
